what the freak

Wassup guys, Elder Johnson here. If you enjoy this post please consider legally changing your name to elderstacksonzacks.blogspot.com and run for a local office in your county’s government as this would really help spread the good world of my channel.

Week 3 of the MTC was filled with thrills and spills as my district still tries to figure out exactly what is going on. So many things happened this week, it is almost hard to remember them all. For one our district played the ultimate prank on our teacher, Hermana Rueda. It all started when my companion and I were goofing around and changing our virtual backgrounds. Elder Mcdougal had the grand idea to change his background to a picture of me and change his name to Elder Johnson. Pretty soon he was recording my screen and setting that as his background so it looked like there were two Elder Johnsons just nodding in agreement the entire class. Pretty soon every missionary in our district had their background set as me.  Hermana Rueda was all like: “AHHHH TODO ESTA ELDER JOHNSONS!” Prime example of a bruh moment. This is what I love about life in online MTC. Sometimes, just for fun, you can put everything on hold just to organize a complete takeover of your entire class just for one shot of something that might be seen in a fever dream. But it's not all always fun and games here. For 6-8 hours a day we are straight grinding. It's hard learning a language. Sometimes I wish I had paid more attention in Mrs. Bartok’s class back in the good ol’ days at UCHS. However, one thing that we have been pressed to do is to make goals. Every day we memorize phrases and words. I remember when I thought it was so hard to learn Moroni 10:5 in Spanish. Now I can recite, as my companion Elder Mcdougal says, “Honkin’ verses”.

Last sunday my family and I went on a hike in Linville Gorge or as we say it in this house, The Gorge. The Gorge has a lot of history around here. I went on a hiking trail I had never done before with a massive waterfall at the end. I have always been so mesmerized by waterfalls. They have a hold on me. The closer I walked to the waterfall I noticed a nearby cave that was rocky and deep but also green and beautiful. I went in it to explore. It's one of those experiences where the further you go the more you learn about yourself. To me it felt like how Lehi must have felt the first time he had partaken of the fruit from the tree of life. It seemed like such a spiritual place.

This week's P-day was more exciting than most. My brother Jake decided to propose to his girlfriend Jenny of 3 years. I ran all over the place with him getting him new clothes, the food he wanted, the supplies needed, and anything else to make the night go right. The plan was simple, Jake was going to take Jenny to a nice park with a gazebo and set up a romantic candlelit dinner date, and then pop the question. It was definitely not your average P-day activity, but it was so exciting. I'm so happy for them and their life together but I'm bummed I’ll miss the wedding. Jenny told me we would have double the fun at my wedding, whenever that happens.

The last thing I have to report is about my district. They are honestly the chillest people in the whole world. One day I’m going to break down everyone in my district for you. We all know each other pretty well at this point, but we miss each other at the same time. Our favorite song as a district is Sirvamos Unidas or As Sisters in Zion in Spanish. Keep in mind that there are only two sisters in the whole district. Sometimes just seeing all their faces in class is the only thing that gets me up in the morning. It has been a long time since I’ve been in school, and although this isn’t exactly it, it sure is close. I honestly never thought I would miss high school as much as I do. To be honest, it makes sense because when you are in school you are constantly being told what to do and when to study and you are always busy. Your main motivation to get good grades is to get into a good college. Now, on my mission, I have to find motivation within myself. Sometimes it's hard, but this is my life now.
