Home (in Reno) for the Holidays

Image
Early into this transfer President Dunn called asking to speak with me, and he gave me some interesting news. It turns out there was some problem with my flight so instead of being in South America, I am still in Reno. Normally I would be pretty bummed, but I'm a little relieved just because I really don't know what else to feel. I never really knew how to feel about the whole thing in the first place. My Spanish is terrible, I have no idea what it's like in Paraguay, I would have to learn a brand new area, not to mention a brand new mission. To be honest it's kind of nice just to sort of chill in a familiar place for the Holidays. It sort of feels like home just because it feels like I've been here for a while. Other than that, this transfer has been nothing like last transfer. They really changed up the District and moved like half of the Zone out. Since everyone thought I was going to be leaving Dec. 18, they kept me in the same area but put me in a trio with E...

Last monday was our last Zone activity for the transfer. It's crazy how fast the last 6 weeks have gone by. It does not seem like too long ago that I was living out of my suitcase back in Summit Ridge. We actually got to go back there on Monday because we needed to do our laundry. It ended up taking forever because we had to dry our clothes like 3 times each because the dryer is some straight boof. Anyway some Sisters in the Zone got together and made a poster for me and Elder Erickson who is going to Ghana in like a week so that's super exciting. But it was so awesome because everyone got to sign it--so it's sort of like my Reno transfer journal. It's so cool though because the sisters put SOOOOO much effort into it. I have it right above my desk so I look at it all the time. I consider it a prized masterpiece. The rest of that day was pretty fun except I came in second with chair soccer so that was lame, BUT it brought me back to the good ol' days as a Barracuda...

All Quiet on the Western Front

I started picking up change off the ground this week. Not because I need it (except I always need quarters) but because a sister missionary told me that she thinks that finding coins on the ground is a sign from God that she is on the right path. For some reason that really spoke to me. This sister goes home this transfer and honestly it is going to be a huge blow to the whole Zone. She was one of the best missionaries I have ever seen. The Zone is really going to get messed up in the next couple of weeks. One of our Zone Leaders is going home, a ton of missionaries probably will be transferred, and I know I'm out of here pretty soon. It's just going to be a weird couple of weeks coming up. But that's what missionary work is. Constant adaptation. By the time you feel comfortable somewhere, you move. I hope everyone got a chance to watch President Nelson's message of Hope and Healing because it was fire. He challenged all of us to convert our social media accounts into...
